History of the Lilford Hall Coat of Arms.
The coat of arms is a shield with the letter L for Lilford, with the date 1635 to signify the year of build of Lilford Hall. The shield has a Little Owl to the right and a Lammergeier to the left. The Little Owl was introduced into England in the 1880s at Lilford Hall by the 4th Lord Lilford. He was also responsible for allowing the only know pair of free-flying Lammergeiers in England to fly freely at Lilford Hall. The crown of the Coat of Arms shows a design based on the roof of the front wing of Lilford Hall with its famous stack of 13 chimneys.
